You Lookin’ at Me?

Morning workout:

4 miles, 40 minutes, treadmill

Strength training – arms, 25 minutes

Evening workout:

3 miles, not timed, outside

I know you’re all probably on the edge of your seats after that cliff hanger I left you with last night, but I’m bummed to say it didn’t end up happening, so you’ll have to keep waiting. It did force me out of bed at 5:00 am, so I had plenty of time to to random activities before work. First, I headed down to the gym and ran on the treadmill while watching music videos and Boy Meets World (it was the episode where Topanga found out Cory cheated on her. So harsh.) After my run, I did 25 minutes of arm strength training, walked to Starbucks, lounged on the couch, made my lunch and then finally decided it was time to get ready for work. It’s surprisingly nice to have so much time in the morning, but there’s no way this will become a regular thing.

For lunch I made this deliciousness

and then rolled it up into a fancy looking wrap

It probably goes without saying that there’s turkey in there.

In addition to the wrap, I had a pomegranate Chobani yogurt, which is by far my favorite. I had never eaten a pomegranate seed before trying this yogurt, so the first time I had it, I was spitting all of the seeds out and wondering how Chobani could sell such a product. Once I was informed these hard seeds were actually edible, I fully embraced them and they’re now my favorite part.

I also had these yummies on the side:

I have a work event tomorrow after school dismissal, so I saw it as a perfect opportunity to try out a new recipe! I found these Frozen Peanut Butter Chocolate Covered Banana Bites on Yummy Mummy Kitchen. YUM.

(missing the Greek yogurt in this pic, but I did use it)

Clearly not meant to become a chocolatier

Ben & Jerry helped prop up the cookie sheets. Such gentlemen.

Don’t worry about the missing pieces from the cookie sheet on the right, they’re safe and sound in my stomach.

Clutch.

After they were put in the freezer to cool, I was feeling a tad nauseous/guilty/ashamed about all of the chocolate and peanut butter I consumed while taste testing every single ingredient (someone had to do it). There was still an hour of sunlight, so I knew I needed to take advantage of the spring-like weather and get outside for another run. I decided on a slow 3 miles and went sans music and Garmin. I was surprised at how much I didn’t mind the lack of music; it definitely allows you to pay more attention to how your body is feeling, as well as your surroundings. I think I’ll start doing a run like this once in a while.

I still didn’t want to push my lungs too hard yet, so I stuck to a slower pace, and with the lack of musical distraction, I was VERY in tune to how many people were passing me by. My friend, Sara, and I recently discussed how hard we can be on ourselves while running outside because we think people are judging us on our speed (or lack there of). When I begin to feel self conscious about it, I remind myself to be a little less egotistical and realize that truth be told, other runners probably don’t give a crap how fast I am running. When I personally see a fellow runner, my thought’s are usually broken down as follows:

81% – “Sup”

8% – “I want her outfit”

6% – “I wonder what song they’re listening to”

3% – “Uhhhhh I’ll catch ya later, speedy pants”

1% – “Run Forest Runnnnn”

.5% – “I think I may actually be quicker than him/her”

.5% – “Just kidding. They just passed me”

Obviously competition can come out (like in my brief .5%), but honestly, why should we care what other people think about our running ability? Regardless of how fast or slow we are running, we are still running, and that’s all that matters.

And in case you need one more reason to come visit Boston, here you go:

Mayor Menino should compensate me for all of the tourism I’ll draw in with this picture

Do you ever do Two-A-Days?

Very rarely, but I actually don’t mind them!

What’s your go-to recipe when you attend pot luck events?

How do you keep focused on yourself and not wondering what everyone else is thinking?

P.S. I’ve never broken things down into percentages on here before….I think I was inspired after seeing the pie charts on this hilarious blog last night. Check it out.
